Description

The Herkimer Hotel was originally built in the 1880's by Samuel Jenks, a prominent businessman from Herkimer, NY. Fryling Construction renovated the hotel, recapturing some of its former charm, and converted it into MSHDA apartments for low-income residents.

The 4-story building consists of 62,500 square feet and features vaulted ceilings, hand-carved banisters, classic woodwork and skylights. In total it has 104 studio apartments and 18 one-bedroom units. Fryling completed extensive interior renovations including the reworking of the existing fire protection, new interior finishes, updating of the mechanical and electrical systems, rewiring for most of the existing lighting, and some new doors and hardware. The existing doors and hardware were used whenever possible.
