Steelcase’s Wood Manufacturing Plant serves as a benchmark to the building industry, as one of the most environmentally-sound industrial plants in the nation. It was the first LEED silver-rated industrial facility in the US.

Features

• Building frame is 90-percent recycled steel and 20 percent of all materials used

in the building are recycled.

• The plant exterior is constructed of pre-cast concrete walls that don’t require paint or sealant,

eliminating a potential source of future emissions.

• Skylights and large windows provide abundant natural light, decreasing reliance on

artificial lighting and reducing energy consumption.

• Design / build delivery system resulted in savings of over $3 million in project costs

• Earned LEED Silver Award from USGBC for energy and environmental measure
