Description
Van Singel Fine Arts Center, the focal point of its integration in the new high school, benefits not only the students, but also the West Michigan arts community as a whole. Equipped with powerful lighting, dimming, rigging, and sound capabilities, the 6,000 square foot, proscenium-arched stage is used for a variety of performing arts events - including Off-Broadway shows.
The school's art facilities encourage skill development in drawing and painting, drama, vocal or instrumental music, photography and videography. A Macintosh-equipped graphic arts/multi-media lab further fuels the artistic talents of the students.
More than 70 miles of video, audio, data and voice cabling were used to operate the school's breakthrough technology, which permits room-to-room conferencing and distant learning. Each classroom is equipped with television cameras and monitors, controlled by the instructor through touch-screen technology from a multimedia workstation.
