Description
Constructed on the north end of the building, near Reeds Lake, the 45,000 square foot, three-story addition to East Grand Rapids Middle School provides more classroom space and a communal space functioning as a cafeteria, commons and community room. Site conditions for the addition required a great deal of attention, as unsuitable soils were removed to provide adequate support for this multi-level structure.
Renovation work included new mechanical and electrical systems and major upgrades to the laboratory facilities, music rooms, kitchen and administrative areas.
The challenging schedule for this project required that the majority of renovations be completed during two summer vacation periods.
