Inspired by the historic Old Westbury Gardens in New York, this private residence in St. Louis County, MO, was designed based on characteristics of an English manor home of the late 17th century Georgian or Colonial Revival style. The architecture includes ornamental features derived from styles as rich and diverse as Charles II, Beaux Arts, and Adams. The owner requested the north wing be an intentional style departure with Tudor Revival or Gothic features to achieve textural variety and reinforce the perception that it was at some point an addition to the original home. Fenestration throughout the home is intended to reinforce the symmetry, confirming the hierarchy associated with the Georgian style.
