Arlington Heights Village HallSummary
Award DescriptionProject Participants
Architect – FGM Architects, Oak Brook, IL
The 75,000 sq. ft. Village Hall is the centerpiece for the village’s municipal campus. It sits on the southwest corner of a triangular site that also holds a fire station, parking garage, police station, and public plaza. The Hall highlights a six-story stone brick clock tower that greets visitors and directs them to the various village departments housed within the facility.
Architects designed the station in Richardson Romanesque style to aesthetically match other municipal facilities in the area and because of its resonance as a true American style for grand public buildings. A Lisbon Bianco rough-cut limestone base, Rustic Burgundy brick walls, and cast stone decorative panels reflect this style as do smaller windows and recessed doorways.
