Kauffman Stadium Renovation & ImprovementsSummary
Award DescriptionProject Participants
Owner – Kansas City Royals Baseball Corp, Kansas City, MO
Complete demolition, removal, and rebuild of both load bearing and non-load bearing CMU walls in a Major League baseball stadium. New construction consisted of 120,000 standard gray CMU at back of house and interior restroom locations, and 90,000 architectural masonry units at all exterior façade and interior corridor locations.
One of the main objectives behind the design of the Kauffman Stadium renovation & improvements project, home of the Kansas City Royals, was to widen the concourse areas between seating and concessions. The project also provides baseball fans with new concessions, restroom facilities, suites, shopping, and outdoor dining areas. The project involved virtually a complete demolition of all existing masonry walls and structures in all public access areas. Existing masonry was then replaced with various types of architectural masonry elements.
