Description

The extensive machine and equipment of Hayes Lemmerz’ casting facility required a 600 amp-12,470 volt system with four 2,500 KVA transformers. Because the building design was preengineered with limited areas for overhead conduit runs, Feyen Zylstra’s electricians had to make careful layouts and complicated bends of rigid pipe. This was accomplished, thanks in part to use of new cable pulling technology; the 70+ feeder cable runs could be installed in less time, with reduced stress to cable insulation and with greater safety than with traditional techniques. All piping on the project was rigid galvanized conduit.
