Description
EllisDon Toronto has been awarded the P3, Design Build Finance and Maintain contract (30 years) for The Toronto South Detention Centre (TSDC) project in Toronto, Ontario.
The TSDC is being built to replace the Don Jail which is located on the south portion of the Mimico Correctional Centre property in Etobicoke.
The TSDC is a male maximum security remand facility (2 years less a day) and will include:
- 1,650 beds for adult inmates
- 320 bed intermittent centre
- Infirmary
- Food preparation area
- Laundry facilities
The TSDC will also feature Geothermal Ground Source Heat Exchanger that will produce 7.8 Terra Joules of renewable energy per year. The facility is designed and will be built to LEED Silver specifications.
