Description

The EllisDon Construction Management team at the Calgary International Airport consisted of forty complementary specialists dedicated to each of the Airport's individual client goals. The following describes the major projects that were successfully completed.

Courtyard Infill Renovations
The construction team implemented a renovation program to the existing 79,205 square feet of space these tenants previously occupied. The renovation program included decommissioning and demolition of the current trans-border baggage hall and construction of a new automated baggage facility equipped to incorporate new Explosion Detection System technology. Other work included within this phase was the installation of a two-level escalator, twelve trans-border ticketing counters, as well as structural demolition of major components of the existing base building structure. All work is performed while the airport maintains 24/7 operations.

Concourse "D" Expansion
This 233,209 square foot expansion of the north terminal area provides expanded ticketing and check-in areas, new and expanded domestic baggage claim facilities, and new bag stripping areas for both domestic and international inbound flights. The project includes four relocated jet bridges and associated hold rooms for the terminal. The new International Arrivals Hall is located on the arrivals level and a new Central Retail Hall and public gathering space on the departures level.

Concourse "D" Expansion
This project had three major new components; the North Processor (125,816 square feet), the 'D' Pier (112,319 square feet) and the 'D' Hammerhead (49,367 square feet). This wing of the Calgary International Airport allows passengers to check in at one of the twenty-one new positions, then proceed through the state-of-the-art pre-board screening to the 'D' Pier. Prior to boarding the plane, passengers may enjoy something from the food court, shops, or admire the art scattered throughout this pier.
