Description

This project entailed site design in support of a new 18,267 square foot church building, on a site formerly occupied by a single family residence on the 11 acre campus.

Site improvements included new off-street parking for 140 cars, as well as redefining layout and access to existing parking to accommodate an additional 70 cars. Intent for this off-street parking was for shared use to minimize pavement surface area. A new common collector drive to service the new church building as well as an existing school building remaining on site was developed.

Improvements to function and safety for both pedestrian and vehicular traffic were a primary goal, which was met. Design for storm water management offered challenges as ground water table was high, due to proximity of project site to the Kalamazoo River Basin.

Driesenga & Associates, Inc. role on this project included topographic survey, geotechnical exploration, civil engineering as well a landscape design services over the course of the design and construction of this project.

To assist in storm water management design, Driesenga & Associates, Inc. also provided percolation testing, such that final design could be completed.

Other tasks provided for this project included preparation of site work specifications and preliminary and final site plan reviews with the City of Otsego, MI.
