Description

The commercial development is situated on a 14 acre site in Plainfield Township and includes five developable sites served by public water and sewer. The project was the first to be permitted under Plainfield Township’s Storm Water Management Ordinance. A portion of the project lies within the 100 year floodplain for the Grand River. Michigan Department of Environmental Quality Best Management Practices were implemented to preserve water quality adjacent to the Grand River, and an MDEQ permit was obtained for work within the floodplain. A section of the site was protected and preserved as an easement to convey the 100 year flood volume for the area watershed to the Grand River. Driesenga & Associates, Inc.’s staff provided site plan, civil engineering design, and construction staking services for the bank and overall site. The project also included public water and sanitary sewer utility design and permitting and coordination with the Kent County Road Commission for a drive entrance and widening of West River Drive.
