Description

This project, located at 4899 South Complex Drive in Grand Rapids, MI., is an existing facility for the NOAA Weather Station. The project required the investigation, evaluation and preparation of a report to address the failure of the existing 6,500 square foot parking lot and access drives. On this project, Driesenga & Associates, Inc. served as subcontractor to the client, who was pre-qualified to perform work for the Federal Government. Driesenga & Associates, Inc. (D&A) was hired as a sub-contractor to perform a pavement analysis of the existing parking facilities. The D&A team was responsible for evaluating, investigating, and preparing a written report to identify the reasons for the parking lot failures. D&A performed an on-site investigation, performed pavement cores, and obtained in-place bearing capacities utilizing a dynamic cone penetrometer test. In the report D&A prepared recommendations to temporarily fix the problem, as well as a complete parking lot replacement.
