Description

In an effort to realize the dreams of new franchisee Pete Spohn, Driesenga & Associates, Inc. teamed with architect, Southwest Design Associates and contractor, McCon Building Corporation, to design a project fully compliant with Culver’s franchising standards. This project involved the design and construction of a Culver’s Classic 120 Restaurant on a vacant out lot to an existing Meijer retail store.

This site posed environmental and geophysical design obstacles. The history of this site included commercial uses that may have included automotive salvage operations as well as storage of petroleum industry construction materials. Geotechnical exploration also indicated the presence of buried organic material, most likely the result of earthwork operations required for an earlier development.

Driesenga & Associates, Inc. provided a full scope of site engineering services for this project, which included the following, Phase I and II ESA Environmental Assessments, Geotechnical Exploration, Survey and Civil Engineering as well as Landscape design.

During construction, Construction Materials Testing and Construction Layout services were also provided.
