Acoustics By Design

Once completed, this state of the art facility had a troublesome transformer noise and vibration issue that left many of the conference rooms unusable. Acoustics By Design's engineers were called in to troubleshoot the issue to identify the root cause of the difficult problem. We completed detailed noise measurements on a series of similarly sized transformers here and at other facilities for comparison. It was determined that the brand new transformers were defective and required replacement. The new transformer cores were significantly quieter and vibration free. Feyen Zylstra, LLC

DeVos Place Convention Center is the largest single-site project in the history of Grand Rapids, the DeVos Place Convention Center is over one million square feet, including a 40,000 square foot ballroom with seating capacity of 4,000 for dinner. The main exhibition hall is large enough to hold three football fields. Feyen Zylstra partnered with two other area contractors to complete this project. The team worked closely with Progressive AE for design recommendations, budgeting and value engineering. A tight site and schedule with an absolute completion deadline are just a few of the challenges faced. Extensive pre-planning was required to meet these challenges.

Burgess Concrete Construction

Burgess Concrete Construction, Inc. was contracted to pour the site concrete surrounding the DeVos Place Convention Center.  This included pouring all the sidewalks and patio's surrounding the convention center with 3' x 3' decorative joints.
