Pioneer Construction
Peckham Inc. is a community rehabilitation organization that seeks to maximize the potential of persons with barriers to employment.
Peckham, Integrated Architecture, and Pioneer Construction have teamed up again to renovate one of Peckham’s former manufacturing and warehouse facilities into a bright, beautiful and refreshing office space. The renovated facility is home to Peckham’s Department of State call center and support for the call center operation. Construction was completed in three phases, allowing the call center to remain in operation throughout the project. This existing pre-engineered steel building was modified to allow for the extensive addition of new windows and a new lightwell in the center of the building, providing natural light for every occupant of the building. Currently, the project is under review for a LEED CI Certification rating.
Allied Electric Inc
Where there’s a will there’s a way, so they say. The proverb proved true during Allied Electric’s contract with Peckham Industries, an assignment that involved fairly routine wiring of a manufacturing facility including a locker room and support offices. Then things suddenly changed. “We started the project and then they ran out of space at their other facilities and needed to compress the schedule,” recalls project manager Shannon Sullivan. “We just really had the time crunch on. We were working six 12-hour shifts for about two-and-a-half months to meet the accelerated schedule.” Meet it they did, completing the work six months ahead of the original deadline – and underlining Allied Electric’s commitment to customer satisfaction.
The new building consolidates all of Peckham's Lansing-based facilities into 110,000 s.f. of flexible manufacturing space, providing an additional 70,000 s.f. of corporate office, cafeteria and services space. The building is designed to promote teamwork and high performance while incorporating innovative and adaptive technology throughout. It allows Peckham to expand programs for people with disabilities or other barriers to employment. More than 75% of the people employed at Peckham have a substantial disability.
