Descriptions

CSM Group

CSM Group is currently providing construction management services to this new, single story 18,000 s.f. public facility. The library will provide capacity three times that of the existing library on a new site with modern facility controls, state of the art audio visual display and electronic ready book receipt and check-out.

A local bond was passed in August 2007 and design was completed in April 2008. The library features Victorian era architecture at the building’s entrance, in a turret to the left of the entrance, in the windows and the portico covering the drive-thru book drop. The interior’s historic reading room is architecturally reminiscent of the City’s Bardeen Mansion, the former home of paper baron George Bardeen.  A similar feature will be constructed for the children’s reading room, with a façade resembling the Thompson House, another local period home. The facility will be LEED certified, reducing impact on the environment and saving money for taxpayers for its operation.

The project schedule was carefully constructed to incorporate LEED requirements yet maintain the scheduled move in date.

One major problem involving this project was the unexpected bankruptcy of a key contracting company. We continued ahead with project and hired another company, in a very short time span, to carry out and complete the mechanical scope of work within the project schedule.

Architectural Glass & Metals, Inc.

Project included several custom engineered self-supporting insulated translucent skylights furnished and installed by Architectural Glass & Metals, Inc.

AGM worked closely with architect Rod Thompson to help design and detail each individual skylight as required to achieve the desired design aesthetic and performance criteria required for the project.
