Descriptions
In Holland, Michigan, Omega designed a total of 13 buildings, each with 12 direct access apartments for Phase One of North Pointe Apartments. These buildings use a concrete tunnel design to help insulate each apartment and reduce noise from the surrounding apartments. These one and two bedroom apartments each have their own laundry room, attached garage, and a patio or deck. As part of Phase One, Omega also designed the community building consisting of apartment complex offices and dayrooms for resident gatherings. Phase Two, currently unbuilt, will have 16 buildings of the 12 unit direct access apartments.
Classic Engineering
Classic Engineering provided the mechanical, electrical and plumbing on this two-story apartment building. Bearing walls are made of cast-in-place concrete. Each unit is heated and cooled with a packaged, gas-fired unit, ducted to each room. All penetrations for ductwork and electrical devices were dimensioned on the plans. All knockouts were framed into the concrete wall prior to it being poured to eliminate cutting and boring in the field. All domestic piping to each plumbing fixture is PEX tubing.
