Design Plus

 

Design Plus acted as architect of record, providing architectural, interior design, mechanical and electrical design development, limited construction documents, and construction administration for the new 54,270 SF DeVos Communications Center.  The DeVos Communication Center houses the Communications Department (both video and audio facilities), the Political Science Department and the Speech Therapy Department, and is a combination of classrooms, computer labs, radio and television studios, and faculty offices.  This building was completed in August 2002. Construction costs for the DeVos Communications Center were $6,500,000. 

 

Triangle Associates

The DeVos Communication Center houses classrooms and office space for the Communication Arts and Sciences Department, the Political Science Department and the Paul B. Henry Institute for the Study of Christianity and Politics. The center also contains a radio studio, TV studio, computer lab and a 150-seat theatre, complete with surround sound.

This facility and the Prince Conference Center & Lodge were constructed simultaneously over an 18-month period with an additional award to install the $2 million technology package. The package includes information technology, audio visual and broadcast engineering equipment for the DeVos Communications Center.

Feyen Zylstra, LLC

 

The DeVos Communication Center at Calvin College was built in 2002 to accomodate growing technological and space needs of the college. The facility consists of a 150-seat video theater, audio and video editing suites, speech therapy labs, and video conference room. The Prince Conference Center, built concurrently, provides a comfortable area for meetings and large conferences. The facility also has lodging accomodations available for use. Feyen Zylstra's construction and communications groups were hired for the project.
