Kent Companies, Inc.

Kent Companies was contracted by Triangle Associates to deliver the concrete frame of a 15-story mix use building in down town Grand Rapids known as “The Gallery”.

Working with Triangle Associates, Kent Companies’ project team of Steve Doelder, Project Executive, Paul Bowne, Project Manager, Chris Jesko and Jim Shannon, Superintendents set out to use our past experience in “Vertical Concrete Construction” to deliver the concrete frame with an aggressive schedule.

To accomplish Kent Companies’ goal all components had to be integrated without any delays.  Coordination of the building materials from aggregate volume and temperature in the redi-mix to vertical and horizontal form work, reinforcing steel & post tension cables all had to be scheduled with no street level storage. Material platform was added to the side of structure and moved up as required to stage material to service the work on each floor level.

With the project having variable floor heights due to its mixed use in the lower structure, all vertical formwork, shoring and re-shoring materials had to be customized at each level. Kent Companies’ experience in structural concrete led to the installation of 650,000 lbs of reinforcing steel, 100,000 lbs of post tension, and 10,000 cubic yards of concrete all completed within the project time line.
