Descriptions

Soils & Structures, Inc.

The worldwide entertainment chain, Cinemark, entered the West Michigan market with its first theater complex adjacent to the Rivertown Crossings Mall in Grandville. Triangle Associates was contracted to serve as construction manager for the $14 million, 20-screen complex.

On March 23rd, immediately after signing the contract, Triangle began work on the site. At that time the nearly 100,000-square-foot complex was scheduled for a fast-track completion by December 15th. The owners soon discovered that this date would put the theater opening behind that of the Rivertown Mall which was nearing completion and too late for Thanksgiving movie-goers. An accelerated construction schedule allowed for that date to be moved up to November 3rd to meet Cinemark’s goals.

Pre-scheduling commitments from sub-contractors and suppliers made it possible for the simultaneous implementation of elevated deck concrete forming, rebar placement, concrete pouring and erection of structural steel. These commitments also ensured that when everyone else was looking for drywall, the allotment for this project was ready and waiting for installation. The Triangle Team completed the project on schedule.

This project was completed in a total time of only four months. More than a typical fast track project, contractors were presented with the absolute deadline for all systems to be completely functioning and operational. This was accomplished through dedication of the crew who worked 60-hour weeks throughout the duration of the project.
