Descriptions
Cox Medendorp Olson Architects
Sited to be the gateway and welcoming center for the Lena Meijer Children's Garden, this Comfort Station building is a family friendly building that provides rest rooms; gathering space; vending machine space; and volunteer and docent storage, preparation and staging areas. The whimsical forms of the building allude to natural forms of trees, hills, and clouds. It utilizes the material palette of the main building to provide a connection to the site and the existing structures. This building successfully provides a means to accommodate a family's needs during a lengthy and enjoyable visit to this award winning facility.
The Lena Meijer Childrens Garden and Sculpture Park received the 2006 Honor Award from the American Society of Landscape Architects and an Award of Excellence from the ABC of Western Michigan.
