Classic Engineering
Classic Engineering designed the mechanical, structural, plumbing and electrical systems on this church. The building has a sanctuary, complete kitchen, gymnasium, office space and multiple classrooms. The HVAC system uses gas fired packaged roof top units and 90% efficient gas fired furnaces.
Acoustics By Design
Acoustics By Design was brought in by the First Congregational Church of Lowell to help them solve several acoustic challenges in their Sanctuary and Family Life Center. While the Sanctuary acoustics needed to be enhanced for traditional music, choral selections, and the spoken word, the Family Life Center needed to be optimized for church dinners, youth functions, and receptions. Our task was to provide recommendations for optimizing the acoustical environment and enhancing the experience of the congregation throughout the two spaces.
Our professional engineers performed Reverberation Time measurements in the Sanctuary and the Family Life Center. In addition, they analyzed both spaces with 3D modeling technology to determine appropriate solutions for acoustic mitigation. Recommendations were given for acoustical treatments that would control the excessive reverberation and provide an excellent environment for worship and fellowship.
