AIA - Grand Valley Chapter

At first glance, the Marketplace in Zeeland appears to be like any other contemporary office structure. Looks can be deceiving as this building is more forward-looking than meets the designer eye. It was designed and constructed using Green Building Techniques. The design and open office atmosphere of the Marketplace utilizes the natural daylight views from all work stations. The state-of-the-art mechanical and electrical systems incorporated into the building maximize energy efficiency and decrease the use of natural resources. The building exterior is constructed with pre-cast concrete, aluminum panels, and window glass and glazing. The building incorporated a center courtyard with a waterfall to assist with humidity levels in the building. The emphasis on Green Building Design utilized during this project promotes energy efficiency, indoor environmental quality and conservation of materials and resources. Marketplace was submitted for and received one of the highest rankings - the Gold Level of LEED Certification.
