Description
Elzinga & Volkers, Inc. received LEED Gold Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council in the Commercial Interiors category for their Herman Miller Design Yard Front Door project. The award was earned due to the use of recycled and rapidly renewable materials, a humidification system, along with existing traits of the building including natural light, mechanical systems, bicycle racks, and changing rooms. In addition to the rapidly renewable and recycled materials, 62% of the construction waste was recycled, 61% of the existing building materials were reused, and the project made optimum use of daylight and views available in the existing building design. This LEED project moved corporate leaders and their support teams from traditional wood-paneled private offices into an open environment that promotes visual access to one another, high performance teamwork, and casual interaction with both coworkers and customers.
