Award Description
Installing and finishing one of the largest competition swimming pools in the United States requires expertise in substrate preparation, and a keen sense of the tile installation design created by GMB Architects. Welch Tile and Marble, in collaboration with The Christman Company is the perfectly suited team for a project of this magnitude and time constraints. With over 1,000,000 individual one by one tiles to be installed in the pool and on the deck, a task that would traditionally take 16 weeks was expertly completed in 8 weeks with the vast tile mechanic resources Welch Tile employs.
Founded in 1987 by Richard Welch, and now led by the second generation, with Dan Welch serving as President and Chief Operating Officer, Welch Tile and Marble has produced over 30 pools in the Western Michigan area.
Welch Tile is a five star NTCA member, Dan Welch will soon take the Chair as President of the National Tile Contractors Association, and they have promoted the CTEF, Certified Tile Installer program with 23 of their lead tile mechanics having graduated from that program.
