Project Description

Viking Construction served as general contractor for the $21.6 million Westwood mixed-income housing development project in Stamford, Connecticut. Viking managed the demolition, site preparation, and construction of the new complex, which took 14-months to complete.

Viking worked with a private/public partnership client (the Charter Oak Communities and the Vidal Court Tenant Association) for this project, which was partially financed by Low Income Housing Tax-Credits, mortgage debt from the Connecticut Housing Finance Authority, funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, a grant from the City of Stamford, and grants-in-aid from the State of Connecticut.

The Westwood project required attention to strict deadlines and consideration to active surrounding commercial space.  It was built on 4 acres of land, and now consists of 95 stylish, handicap-accessible apartments in ten wood-frame constructed townhouse-style homes (totaling 117,000 square feet).
