Award Description
The new Norwich Technical High School - created from an existing community college - dramatically improves the scope and quality of technical education offerings to its students. Limited public funds for this first round of technical high school renovations meant that a new school couldn't be built - but the State set a goal of creating a "like new" facility to support the Norwich students. The result is an outstanding architectural design housing state-of-the-art educational facilities - with enrollment interest for the 2009/2010 school year nearly doubling over previous years. The existing community college remained fully operational throughout the highly phased project, and team coordination was essential to maintaining safety, achieving the schedule, and minimizing impact on the building occupants.
