Award Description
C.E. Floyd Company built a 700 sf classroom addition and completed 3500 sf of interior renovations at the Fairfield Country Day Lower School. The work encompassed six classrooms, two specialist classrooms, the corridor and a teacher workroom and testing area. After breaking one large project into three smaller ones, FCDS sacrificed their desire to achieve LEED Certification on the work. Once awarded the project, C.E. Floyd held a LEED charette with Peterman Architects to see if Certification could still be attained. The team came up with enough affordable changes - that would not add significant time to the schedule - for the project to qualify for LEED Silver. The greatest challenge on this project was meeting the schedule. Reintroducing LEED Certification, additions to the scope, working around the camp schedule and other hurdles required strong communication and collaboration skills from the project team to successfully deliver this small renovation project.
